Answer

Can the notetaker write interview notes instead of meeting minutes?

For interviewers, hiring managers and recruiters whose interviews on Google Meet or Microsoft Teams came out as project-meeting minutes: how TrackHeros switches a meeting to its Interview profile with one click, how a client's minutes template makes it the default, what the profile writes, and why salary, notice period and the recommendation are only ever what was said.

TrackHeros can write interview notes instead of meeting minutes. Its Interview profile replaces the project-meeting shape of agenda, decisions and milestones with what a hiring decision needs: who the candidate was, what the panel found, and what the panel said it wanted to do. This answer is for interviewers, hiring managers and recruiters who run interviews on Google Meet or Microsoft Teams and got minutes when they wanted an assessment. Why interview notes need their own shape is in how to take interview notes without losing the candidate; the full use case is on AI interview notes.

How do I turn a meeting's minutes into interview notes?

Open the meeting and select Summarise as an interview. The notes are rewritten in the Interview profile from the same transcript. The button appears on an ended meeting that already has a summary, and it always offers the shape the summary is not in, so on an interview it reads Summarise as a project meeting and takes you back.

Nothing is re-recorded or re-transcribed. The recording and the transcript stay as they were; only the notes change shape.

How do I make interviews the default for a client?

In the client's minutes template, set Meeting type to Interview. Every meeting of that client summarised from then on uses the Interview profile. Meetings already summarised keep their shape until you use the button on them.

That suits a client who is only ever hiring with you, or a workspace you keep for one company's recruitment. A client whose calls mix weekly project meetings and the odd interview is better left on Project meeting, with the button used on the interviews.

What does the Interview profile write?

A fixed set of sections, each filled from the transcript or left empty:

  • Candidate, Role applied for and Interviewers
  • Assessment, in three parts: Strengths, Concerns and Gaps
  • Salary expectation and Notice period
  • Recommendation
  • Next step, as agreed on the call

The minutes drop empty sections, so an interview where pay never came up has no salary line rather than a blank one inviting a guess. The document goes out the usual ways: "Copy for email" for the debrief thread, and formal PDF minutes on paid plans, described on pricing.

Why is the salary field empty?

Because nobody said a figure. Salary expectation and notice period are filled in only if a figure was actually said aloud in the interview. They are never estimated from the CV, the role, or what similar candidates usually ask for.

That is deliberate. By the offer stage nobody remembers whether a number came from the candidate or from a summary, and a number the candidate never said is the hardest thing in the file to take back.

Whose recommendation is in the notes?

The interviewers' own, in their own words. If the panel said "strong for the platform team, not for the mobile work", that is what appears. If the panel said nothing conclusive on the call, the recommendation says nothing conclusive. The model does not weigh the evidence and pronounce a verdict, because the decision belongs to the people who will have to defend it.

Does it work the same on Google Meet and Microsoft Teams?

Yes. The notetaker joins either platform as a visible participant, the transcript carries the speaker names the platform gives each person, and the Interview profile reads it the same way. An interview held in German, or one that moves between Hindi and English, is transcribed into English and the notes can be written in English or one of eight other languages, listed on the languages page; the pricing page says which plans include the choice. A recruiter running interviews for several hiring clients keeps each client's candidates in that client's own workspace; see AI notes for recruiters. How the project-meeting shape compares is on the minutes page.
